The Sermon Shots Story
Sermon Shots began with a simple, sincere question:
How can we use what we’ve built to serve the Church?
Back in 2021, our founders, Corey Alderin and Josh Wiley, had already built a successful software company used by hundreds of thousands to create trailers and marketing materials. As that business matured, it no longer required their full-time focus. That opened up a new opportunity–a Kingdom-focused calling.
After dozens of conversations with pastors and ministry leaders, one need rose to the top: sermon clips.
At the time, larger churches with full media teams were already creating them regularly. But small and mid-sized churches often lacked the time, tools, or team to turn their sermons into consistent social content. And yet, every church had a message that deserved to be heard beyond Sunday.
Thankfully, the core tech already existed. We had spent over five years building and refining software that, with a little redirection, could help churches clip sermons faster and better than ever before.
In early 2022, we launched a beta version and shared it with a group of trusted, church-minded leaders. Their response confirmed what we’d hoped: this was needed. By July 2022, we welcomed our very first paying church.
From Clips to a Full Church Content Suite
Since that first launch, Sermon Shots has grown far beyond simple clipping. We now offer:
- Visuals and social templates
- Captions, fonts, and styling tools
- Quote images, devotionals, summaries, and transcripts
- Full branded sermon pages
- Live text and audio translation in over 30 languages
What started as a tool to make one thing easier is now a complete content suite for the modern church.
